Cleaning Tips For Stainless Steel Sinks

While stainless steel is very durable it is not completely maintenance free. Stainless Steel is a metal alloy created from a combination of metal including nickel and chromium. Because there is a sufficient amount of chromium it creates a protective film of chromium oxide over the surface when exposed to the air. If the sinks surface is left wet or coated with food and other contaminates the metals in the sink cannot form this protective layer and become susceptible to stains and rust marks. If properly maintained your sink will last a lifetime and continue to add charm and beauty to any decor.

General Cleaning Instructions:

Wash weekly with mild dish detergent and a soft towel or sponge, to prevent build up of mineral deposits from the water. Dry with a soft cloth after each use to prevent water spots that can dull the appearance of the sink. For oily spots or tougher grime you can use a mixture of baking soda and water with a soft sponge and scrub in the direction of the grain. NEVER use steel wool on the sink this will scratch the surface.

General Care Instructions:

It is recommended that you do not leave food to dry on the sink surface, as this can cause discoloration on the sink. Some scratches will occur over the lifetime of the stainless steel sink. It is recommended to use a protective grid to prevent excessive scratches to the surface of the sink. To remove fine cosmetic scratches, a product like Bar Keepers Friend will do the job. Simply follow the manufactures directions.

Undiluted white vinegar will remove oily fingerprints! Simply pour on a soft cloth or paper towel. Rub over fingerprints and surrounding area. Rinse thoroughly. You can also try a window cleaner with ammonia in the product. Be advised that ammonia can dull the granite or other solid surfaces.
Oil (Mineral or Olive) will remove streaks and gives it that "new sink" shine. First dry your sink. Start with a few drops on a paper towel and rub in well over the entire surface of the sink. Repeat until desired result is achieved.

The appearance of the rust is often caused by tossing or leaving pots, pans or flatware in the sink. These marks are superficial and easily removed with a little baking soda and water or a product like Bar Keepers Friend (available at most supermarkets). Follow the manufactures instructions for any store bought product. Or make a paste with baking soda and water rub with the grain of the finish until the marks are gone. Rinse thoroughly, repeat if needed and finish by drying the sink with a soft towel.

For deeper nicks a Brillo or an S.O.S. pad can help to disguise some of the damage. With the grain of the finish, gently rub over the scratch and the surrounding area. When finished rinse and dry. (This tip is meant for deep cuts to a brushed finish, using this type of product will cause permanent scratches!)

- NEVER Use bleach or chlorine on your stainless steel
- DO Remove grids to dry the sink
- DON'T Let food dry on the sinks surface

If you're not sure how long things take to do, keep a time log for a week or two and see for yourself.

10. Organise your paper and email

Every time I run an organising workshop, I get participants to complete a Time Wasters Assessment. The results differ slightly depending on the type of group but since 2003, email has crept up the ranks and is now the top time waster! And paper is a close second.

Learning to correctly organise your paper and email will save you HOURS every day. Most business owners spend approximately 2 - 3 hours just attending to email; I spend 15 - 20 minutes!

Don't get overwhelmed - work on just one of these tips consistently until it becomes a habit and keep adding another until you have it all mastered.

Steroids and sports is a very serious issue. While it is proper for the lawmakers of this or any country to create laws making steroid users and sellers criminals. It is not right for Government to tell a private industry how to handle their own internal affairs.

The perception by congress is that Baseball and the other major sports in this country have a Steroid issue and if these sports don't move fast to resolve this issue that congress will enact laws to resolve the steroid problem in sports.

Congress claims to be worried about young children in organized sports from little league thru high school who follow the example of these major leaguers and take performance enhancing steroids, Are congress imposed penalties on the professional level really going to change the level of usage among children?

If congress is really concerned about the children wouldn't it be better to spend their energy on toughening the laws and enforcing the laws. Shouldn't the dealers and suppliers be the focus of congress instead of the rare athlete who gets caught.

It appears that baseball has the steroid situation well in hand. Only a handful of players tested positive for steroid Use. How many players want to go thru the mental abuse of the fans that Rafael Palmeiro was subjected too after his recent suspension after a positive steroid test.

Attacked In the Parking Lot! : How Mrs. Scotch Striker Saved Her Life

It was about 11:00 pm Saturday the 15th of November 2001. The temperature was a cool 59 degrees with a slight drizzle from the northeast. Scotch and the beautiful demure Mrs. Striker had spent the evening at the theater. Scotch and the wife had just come from seeing the latest Christmas movie and were in the parking lot talking about the movie walking to Scotchs steel grey H-1 hummer.

All of a sudden, Scotch heard the ring and felt the dull thud as the 4-foot long section of lead pipe struck the back of his head sending him tumbling to the asphalt. Blancette, his wife started screaming at the site, and suddenly felt her long waist length blond hair grabbed from behind and yanked downward.

While one attacked proceeded to kick Scotch in the face with steel toed boots, the second attacker started to rip of Blancettes blouse off until she stood there in just a short skirt and white bra.

Throughout this vicious attack, Scotch watched in horror and shock as his beautiful wife was being fondled by the two attackers in the parking lot. A great rage developed deep in him he later recalled to the police and he realized he had to do something quick before his lovely wife was violated further. It was now time act. Taking a deep breath and gathering all of his strength, he wiped away the blood from his face, got to his feet and sprinted back to the theaters to call 911 for the police.

The two attackers watched as Scotch ran for the authorities. They considered shooting at him, but did not want to attract attention, so they just laughed at him. It was during this moment of distraction that Mrs. Striker realized that an opportunity had presented itself to her. She quickly reached inside her skirt and felt for the flat piece of steel she kept there. The sound of the large six inch blade locking into place caused one of the attackers to suddenly turn around, but it was too late. In one fluid motion she came up with the tactical folding knife and with all the strength her 5-10 inch 110 pound frame could muster shoved the six steel blade into the underside of her attackers chin until the entire steel blade disappeared into the attackers head. The attacker instantly fired a burst from his Glock 18 into the asphalt spraying bullets every where.

As the other attacker quickly turned toward Mrs. Striker, he suddenly felt a hot stinging sensation in his right ankle. Realizing that the second attacker was still armed Mrs. Striker quickly pulled her tactical folding knife from the chin of the first attacker and he fell at her feet.

Then without a moments hesitation pivoted left and thrust the six inch steel blade into the second attackers groin burying the blade until the Zytel handles hit the attackers pubic bone. Then she twisted the blade 90 degrees and pulled the knife out in the different direction. The attacker immediately started screaming putting both hands over his groin as streams of blood shot out from his groin area every second. She quickly backed away not wanting to get hit by any of the blood streams shooting out 8 feet from the attacker as he thrashed about on the asphalt.

As blancette stood there in the ready stance taught to her, suddenly she felt the firm reassuring hand of Scotch as returned with the police. Scotch said dear, I have brought help, but I see you are ok. She then wiped the blood off the Vaquero on the coat of the first attacker and closed the knife and returned it to the inside waistband of her skirt. Suddenly, she burst into tears and fell into the strong arms of her husband. Scotch took the shaken Blancette to the Police car so she could compose her self.

After few minutes, she then grew angry when she looked down at her bra and noticed that the second attacker had gotten his blood on her brand new $40 dollar Victoria Secret bra.

The police and paramedics attended to the second attackers injuries while Mrs. Striker went home after giving a statement of facts to the police. It was later reveled that the two attackers were serial rapists. While one attacker was now dead and the other missing 9/10ths of his equipment he was still able to stand trial.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Striker were both glad she had taken that self defense course in close quarters knife fighting. That was 3 years ago and Mrs. Striker still has that original vaquero although it is now in a glass case on the living room wall. Mrs. Striker now carries a Columbia River Knife and Tool (CRKT) M18 with a 4 inch tanto blade in her waist and a back up 3-inch M1 CRKT knife in her bra.

She plans on attending Close Quarters Knife Fighting II next year with her 18 year old daughter Chive.

Business Casualty 2 - In Your Face Dressing

Business Casualty: The dot-com revolution brought with it a new dress code as young millionaires with more money than style decreed suits were dead and ties were an abomination. It was the birth of "in-your-face" dressing that decreed, "I make so much money I don't have to dress to impress anyone." Such arrogance foretold of mass bankruptcies in later years.

Nevertheless, money talks, and the fashion victims listened and followed. Casual Friday became de rigueur, even in the most conservative establishments. Once-formal bankers and investment brokers now loosened up on Fridays. In time, it became a bother to dress formally and "business casual" and "corporate casual" were born. This attire soon looked more like "corporate casualty," since it could not quite be defined and was sorely abused.

The recent successor to business casual is the "in-your-face" dressing that announces, "I'm so hip and with-it that I don't have to wear a tie." These professionals are commonly seen in a black silk Armani T-shirt and expensive sport jacket. There are problems other than the "in-your-face" message that this look sends.

For one thing, it easily creates the impression that you are "slick," and maybe headed for Las Vegas instead of the boardroom. Some females have even observed that this look can sometimes give the impression of being a womanizer. In either case, credibility goes down dramatically. In real "power" situations, they cause a man to look less powerful. Of course, powerful men often live by the credo, "Do as I say, not as I do." In other words, for them, power Trumps decorum. Unfortunately, "copycats" of this "in-your-face" dressing who do not live in the Deep South risk having their credibility decreased.

True professionals know instinctively that in order to be taken seriously, a serious appearance is required. They dress to impress, even though this attitude may be more subliminal than conscious.
